Goodnight Sweetheart

Earlier today Ev and I had a tough conversation, more on that in a later post. That conversation left Ev feeling a bit unsure and unsettled- not that she would admit to it, but she did request a bedtime snuggle and she sat on my lap an awful lot today. Also, she made it very clear that the bedtime snuggle should include a tummy rub. I was happy to oblige.
It was a great snuggle and it was needed by both mother and daughter. However, I am now completely and utterly drained and exhausted.
Why should a bedtime snuggle leave me so drained?
Because it was a snuggle with Ev that's why and that means talking. T-A-L-K-I-N-G.
Tonight's topics covered the following areas:

  • Boogers and booger eating ( We have a strict Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy surrounding this hot button topic but she must broach the subject occasionally)
  • Brothers and why they toot
  • Brothers and why they break things
  • Brothers and their poor choices
  • Fishing
  • Fishing with her Papa
  • Tangled and Rapunzel
  • Sidewalk chalk and the art you can make with it.
  • Bike riding.
  • The Bible.
  • Jesus Christ.
  • The differences between men and God.
  • Heaven
  • Grandpa Dillon  and how he died.
  • Pulmonary Embolisms and the treatments for them.
  • Diabetes
  • Church and the reasons for attending one regularly or not
  • The human liver
  • Monopoly Jr
  • The nature of luck
  • The cat and why he poops in a box
  • Why her name is Evelyn and not Tuesday
  • Click, Clack, Moo and Farmer Brown and Duck (kid's book)
  • Her desire for a pet rabbit
  • Rough plans for the construction of a hutch for said rabbit
  • Exercise
  • The state of health of her remaining grandparents
  • Graduating from college
  • Her impending nursing career
  • My migraines
  • Her chronic constipation
  • Telling time
  • The new house
  • The move and logistics surrounding it, like: when the movers are coming, how they will pack the tv, how we will get Billy Bones there, what if her brother gets carsick...you know typical stuff that would occur to a 6 year old (snort)
  • Also Link, there's always talk about him you know.
There were other things but this is what I can remember.
I was in there with her for 30 minutes. Yes. This is typical, this is honestly the kind of ground the girl can cover in a half an hour. That's why I am exhausted.

  2. I'm exhausted from just reading the list, I can only imagine how you must feel. Smart children are a blessing but exhausting...I bet the parents of mediocre children live longer. LOL
